This is Gabriella the Giraffe, and it’s Coraline’s favorite stuffed animal. She can’t sleep without it, and when she’s teething, she can’t really do anything without it. It’s hard to find a good time to wash it, because it has to be dry and ready for bedtime, or nap time.
A couple months ago I asked my mom where she bought this Giraffe, because we realized that one day it was going to get lost, or the dogs were going to chew it up, and we’d need a replacement. But my mom said she bought it from a small Amish shop, so it seemed we would have great difficulty finding a new one.
On Monday, disaster struck. We’ve been feverishly preparing to put our house on the market, and somehow the Giraffe got paint all over her dress, arms and legs. It was already bedtime when we noticed it, and the paint was dry. So I took off her dress (that’s where most of the paint was) and tried to get as much paint off her legs as possible. This is when I noticed a tag. Why had I never thought to look at the tag?
So, a quick Googling and Amazon is sending us two new Giraffe’s tomorrow: a replacement and a backup. Maybe it’s not very minimalistic of me to buy two, but at least my daughter is a good little minimalist. There’s only one stuffed animal for her.
